ever have one of those bosses

**mood:alright
**noise:penelope ~ pinback

that tells you to do something, so you do it and it's not what she wants either because she didn't explained it well or has changed her mind? this happens to me continually in my new job.

i love what i do. i get to talk to people about their health all day. i get to create programs and help them set goals to improve their health. what could be better than that? but it's all the other stuff i'm asked to do, then re-do, then do again. and it's things that typical management will want you to do that really isn't necessary and if anything will draw away from the patient needs.

i love this job. it's the first job i've had in a while that i enjoy. i've really tried to make it my own and a few folks here have commented on all the changes i've made since the last person left and how beneficial they've been to the program. but unfortunately, non of these comments have come from my boss. all i get from her is the negative. which sucks. i want to make the best out of these last 4-5 months here, but right now, i just can't wait to leave. which sucks.

i wish managers would get a clue and figure out that if they have a hard working kid in their department, they should encourage them and create a positive working environment rather than only bringing up the negatives. maybe if they would encourage their workers and lift them up, they would stay longer than a few years...it's interesting to see the make up of my work place. the majority of the workers here are within 5-7 years of retirement. i would estimate that with the exception of one department (which has the one good manager) we may have 15-20 folks under 40...thats out of over 90.

why don't they start thinking about why people are leaving instead of staying with the company?

sounds like you've got an overcritical control freak boss. take comfort, you're doing a great job! you can never please someone like this, only do what they say because they are your boss. i'm sure you knew this already, but it never hurts to hear it from somebody else (especially when they tend towards overcritical control freak behavior)
