sleepy days and cranky cranksters

asher was up every 2, or less, hours last night until 3am where he slept 3 1/2. 10, 12, 2, 3, 6:30...it was a rough night. he was fine. he just wanted to feel secured and loved. almost as soon as he latched on, he was back to sleep. not a bad way to fall asleep really...i can understand wanting to feel that secure, that close to the one i love and know the most. but it wreaks havoc on me the next day.

being a cold night it was one of the first times we haven't had a fan going in the room. i wonder if he woke because the room was so silent. i wonder if we should keep a fan going, not only for him, but for us since it will drown out some of his noise. i didn't want him to get use to white noise, but maybe for now, it's a good thing.

he's been really sleepy and cranky the past few days...another possible sign that he may be teething. he's still happy most of the time, but there's quite a few times where he's mister crankster as well. and he still can't keep things out of his mouth.

i went to buy him a new pacifier, for his cranky times, and get this...at target all the pacifiers went from 0-3 months and then 6-18 months. there were no 3-6 month pacifiers. there were no slots for them either. so either they just don't carry them or they're not made. i was confused...asher's almost 4 months, so i bought him the 6-18 month pacifier...yeah, way too big. i was going to go to babies r us and then i remembered my beef with them. argh...guess i need to let go of my b.r.u. frustration and walk into that crappy store.

i sure wish we had a different baby store in lansing.

hey kim!
sorry asher doesn't seem to be feeling well.

if you think he's teething and want to try something natural/homeopathic to relieve the discomfort, i swore by Hyland's Teething Tablets. they worked wonders for eli.

also, when he got older we would put frozen fruit (usually berries) in those mesh fruit feeder things. it helps numb the gums a bit.

thanks kel. i've been freezing a corner of a washcloth and he seems to like that. i'll look up the hylands tablets. i've also made him an allspice necklace and will be getting him an amber one too. i guess the tannins in them are absorbed into his skin and help with inflammation. we'll see!

i have those feeder things too...i just have to wait until he's eating solids!

hope all is well!!

i've never heard of the necklaces- that's interesting. i'll have to pass that tip along to my cousin for her little guy.

yeah, eli was about 7 or 8 months (maybe even older?) when we started the frozen fruit thing, so you've got awhile still, but the washcloth is a great idea for now!

take care!

As far as pacifiers go I could never find one that Olivia would like and randomly Nathaniel picked some up from Kroger. They are pretty solid looking and have little animals on the front of them but she loves them and has used hers from 1 month till now (almost 5 months) so you may wanna try them.

I call Hazel Cranky McCrankerson once in awhile...
or if it's really bad - we get creative: Whiny von Crankenship, Fussy O'Grumpypants...
Funny how MOST of the time - they're great company... then when they're cranky - LOOK. OUT. (makes you want to throw them out of the metaphorical window... or at least give them temporary and painless laryngitis or something...)
