a call for pediatricians
steve and i figured that we should start looking for pediatricians. we've talked to a few people, but i know there are quite a few ma's and pa's out there in the lansing area, that would be willing to give us some advice. so here's the questions:
who do you take your kids to?thanks in advance for giving us the info...this whole parenting thing is pretty scary! we hadn't even started looking before we lost Jorai and i know it's super important to find one before the birth...so i guess now's a good time.
would you recommend them to others?
are there any pros/cons for your ped.?

We take him to MSU Pediatricians. We've been happy with all the doctors there but our favorite is Dr. Gonoguntla. She never rushes us, she takes the time to answer our questions. She has an open mind and never just resorts to writing prescriptions. I also like that she always seems genuinely excited to see our son.
The office staff is extremely competent and friendly. We rarely have to wait long once we arrive for an appointment. They have always been able to get us in on short notice, and the on-call doctors are great about calling back after hours.
My only complaint is that they only do appointments between 8:30 and 3:30 and they're not open Saturdays, but that's coming from a mom with a job. It wouldn't be an issue for you if you're going to be staying home.
i must delurk and chime in myself.
we take Paul (and the little one arriving in April) to Lansing Pediatric Associates on Lake Lansing near Eastwood Towne Center. He sees Dr. Takagishi.
I initially chose another doc when in the hospital because he was the ped I saw when I was a kid, but Dr. T was on call and I liked him enough to stick with him.
They have a great variety of docs (though I've never seen any other than Dr. T). They have long hours (till 7:30) and Saturdays are open for sick kid visits. They also have a nurse line available for any questions.
Good luck!
